the olive oil in recent years in the West come big in fashion and in accordance with the motto: The more expensive the better, more popular. Similar to the first plain black Swatch watch with the image of a "social product" (suitable for every class of society), there was also a marketing tool for endless flavor variations. But "fresh pressed " the already initially used predicates and virgin "it retained its authoritative meaning for the otherwise quite picky olive oil consumer - but it belongs to all of society. A "common taste" was created.

But hardly anyone knows that the "fresh pressed" and "virgin" olive oil classification, actually goes back to the book "Exodus" of the Old Testament, where it is however a completely different use fed. It is said in the first verse of the Bible, Jewish section "Tezawe" (you areas) in Ex 27.20, translated by Leopold Zunz [I 134], where Moses is raised:

"And you command the children Yisrael,
olive oil that they bring you,
louder, pressed, lighting,
to infect resistant to the lamps. "

The all other use of the olive oil so characterized, then, is that it is not used as food but as an energy source for oil lamps.
